Living in California while most of my folks are in England (with a straggler in Australia and a few in Canada), it makes sense to use Facebook. I still pick up the phone and use e-mail, but generally it’s a lot easier to upload pics, videos and comments that are shared amongst those who elect [...]

Not the Tour de France we anticipated
Posted in A Brit Abroad on July 24, 2010 | Leave a Comment »
Called home today. That’s London, UK. Mum, always happy to hear from me, sounded a little rushed. Local time she should have stepped out from the tub and preparing for bed. Not. Evidently dad was in the guest bedroom, that charades as his cave and internet cafe, waiting for a radio announcement about a neighbor. [...]
Blog Interruptus?
Posted in A Brit Abroad, Blog, My blog on July 20, 2010 | Leave a Comment »
Spent several hours posting a five-minute blog to my “other” account. Okay, I’ll share: It’s Different Now. But that’s not the point. Am I naïve in that perhaps I expect too much from a “free” blog account? Please share like experiences, Thanks!
Here’s Why I Procrastinate . . .

I procrastinate. I have written about this before so won’t bore you with the details other than it’s a little sad. I seem to want me to fail? That makes no sense. Last week I scheduled a teeth cleaning, two years overdue, and a mammogram, that I was reminded about just a week ago. (Points [...]
Why subcribe to BBC America?

Are there better avenues to access “quality” shows? From recent viewing it’s mostly ten-year-old repeats or “the Starship Enterprise” WTF! If I wanted to see US repeats I am in the right country to see them! Am open to suggestions, please share!

Let’s get it over and done with. England and Germany played in the world cup today. We lost. A good goal, that would have been an equalizer at a critical time in the match disallowed. However, the German team continually outplayed our “golden boys” and that resulted in a score of 1-4. Thinking back to [...]

Born Again Veggie
Posted in A Brit Abroad, Vegetarian on June 7, 2010 | 2 Comments »
Dilemma: Not too keen on vegetables! It all started back in my childhood. Doesn’t everything? Mum would eat beef, lamb and fish. Wouldn’t go near fowl due to granddad performing an unforgivable misdeed with her pet chicken. Nan, whom we shared lodgings with, would eat any part of anything that had a heartbeat. She also [...]

Graduation time
Posted in A Brit Abroad on May 29, 2010 | 2 Comments »
My son Sam will be graduating from 8th grade on Wednesday June 9th. He’s 14 and looking forward to the next four years attending high school. Mostly. He is on a high and I am a blubbering idiot! Didn’t think that it would happen this fast. He chooses friends over mum-and-me time, and quite rightly [...]
